🤔 Why We Left GitHub
The Problem with GitHub Copilot
We've moved our development away from GitHub because we fundamentally disagree with how GitHub/Microsoft treats the open source community:
❌ What GitHub Copilot Does:
- Trains on millions of open source projects without permission
- Zero attribution to the original developers
- Zero compensation to creators whose code trains their AI
- Sells our collective work back to us as a subscription service
- Produces poor quality code (even Microsoft employees acknowledge this)
✅ What We Believe In:
- Attribution - Creators should be credited for their work
- Ownership - Developers retain rights to their contributions
- Reciprocity - Taking from open source means giving back
- Transparency - Clear about how code is used
- Community - Building together, not extracting from each other
Our Approach: Ethical AI Development
While GitHub exploits open source for Copilot, our ClimbHigh.AI platform demonstrates ethical AI:
